Jeff Klembczyk, Esq.
Jeff earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and was a practicing engineer for almost 8 eight years in the US Dept. of Defense before receiving his law degree from Syracuse University, Magna Cum Laude. Jeff then practiced at Heslin, Rothenberg, Farley & Mesiti, P.C., a well-respected “boutique” IP law firm where he was exposed to all aspects of IP law including patent and trademark prosecution, related counseling, and litigation.
Motivated by his passion for working with creative technology and management teams, Jeff has since held roles as a “captive” IP and general counsel for innovative technology companies. Primary responsibilities as senior team member include coordinating all aspects of IP portfolios; defending portfolios in various domestic and international proceedings; handling all supply, licensing and distribution contracts; and overseeing other legal issues involving corporate operations, governance, securities, M&A, and litigation.
Many of these positions culminated in equity events with Jeff playing a leading role as chief legal counsel for the companies.
Jeff spent ~10 years as Chief IP and General Counsel for XOS, a developer and manufacturer of x-ray optics and instruments, in East Greenbush, NY, and ultimately guided XOS through its acquisition by a publicly-held technology conglomerate - Danaher Corporation - in 2011. Jeff continued to advise XOS and many other Danaher subsidiaries in the above areas and more, ultimately functioning as the Associate General Counsel – Danaher Water Quality – Americas (technology portfolio), expanding his main practice to M&A (diligence, divestiture), global L&E, project bids and disputes, and product liability.
Jeff is currently Senior Corporate Counsel / IP at the Hillrom, Skaneateles facility (formerly Welch Allyn), where he actively facilitates Hillrom's medical device and system offerings in digital, software, and data-driven products, in addition to providing counsel on other IP and commercial matters.
Jeff is also co-founder/advisor to high-technology companies, including telecommunications, alternative energy, solar cells, carbon fibers, advertising metric software, autonomous driving, and fitness apps, among others. He mentors in accelerators (e.g., within the SOSV VC fund).
